Found this small poem written by Robert Burns.


TO MR RENTON OF LAMERTON

Your billet, Sir, I grant receipt;
Wi' you I'll canter onie gate,
Tho' 'twere a trip to yon blue warl'
Where birkies march on burning marl:
Then, Sir, God willing, I'll attend ye,
And to His goodness I commend ye.


That is exactly how it is in the book so don't ask me what it all means.
You need a Scotsman to interpret.
